Only 48 total athletes are selected to represent FL Swimming at this meet. (7) 11-12 Boys/Girls (7) 13-14 Boys/Girls and (10) 15-18 Boys/Girls.

The selection process is based on the FL Swimming Top 10 rankings, scoring each event and establishing "High Point" athletes in each age category. Andrew was part of the Top 4 selection of the Zone Championship Team in April 2010 based on his point total. The remaining athletes were selected based on 2010 Summer LC Junior Olympic Championship. Athletes selected for this meet truly represent the finest of Florida Swimming competing against 15 other LSC's in our Southern Zone - Team FL is 3-time defending Champions!

Coach Lisa and Nanette traveled with this group of athletes to Baltimore MD on Sunday, July 25th. Our trip was uneventful, great plane ride, easy transition to our rental vans, warm-up at University of Maryland pool was great, went to the grocery store for supplies, mini-hurricane/tornado came through - No power for the next 15 hours!

Other teams were scared and nervous, our well-prepared FL hurricane kids were just fine with the side effect of no power. Flashlights in hand, we ventured to our rooms, got unpacked and enjoyed a quiet, dark evening in MD.

The morning brought sunlight, but still no power - over 290,000 residents in MD/DC were without power. Our area was fortunate to have power restored by 9:00am.

We headed off for some breakfast, coffee, then back to the pool. Early afternoon we headed out for an adventure in Annapolis MD. We were extremely fortunate to have Trevor Ackerman's brother, Brian Ackerman at the US Naval Academy provide a first-hand tour of the campus. Quite an amazing young man shared his very limited "Liberty Time" to share his knowledge of this beautiful and historic location. It was a great day and now we begin prep for racing on Tuesday.

Tuesday'- Piranha Prelim racing went well throughout the morning posting best times in many events. Kelsey Buckley earned the opportunity to return for 2 event finals (50 Free-A final, 200 IM-B Final) and Jason Williams in 50 Free-A Final. The evening races were phenomenal - Kelsey was seated 11th in the 200 IM, won the B Final and actually had the 2nd fastest race of the night! Her 2:22.26 earned her another JR National swim! Kelsey's second final of the night, 50 Free - captured 6th place at 27.04. Jason raced his first Nationals final and captured 7th place in Men's 50 Free with a time of 24.49. Jason's training and developed skill during this past year is quite impressive, he finished 85th in this event in 2009 - Great job Kelsey, Jason and Coach Lisa!

Coach Casey and Zac traveled to Sarasota with this group of PYP athletes. Weather was rainy, but somewhat status quo for this time of year. Coach Casey's weekend was a bit more eventful with a trip to the hospital and an appendectomy. Kudos to Coach Casey, who called from his hospital bed worried about the swimmers, the tents, the PYP families. We applaud you Coach Casey! Special thanks to "Coach Kenny Kovac" and "Coach Christina" for leading the troops through Sunday's events. We truly are a family and take care of each other!
